What a ride!

Waters has an extraordinary gift of storytelling, I was so hooked! Reading his words, I was there with him, laughing, holding my breath, cheering him on and sometimes shedding a tear. I’m convinced this book will bring perspective, gratitude and a lot of laughs to all who get the opportunity to read it. I’m going to need two copies because this is one I have to share, but I won’t part with mine. I hope he writes another.

Great insight into the life of a person who has …

…led quite a colorful life. A succession of choices, consequences, and reconciliation is shared by a ‘stand up’ guy who has become a wonderful student of life. This should be a must-read for many young adults making decisions regarding which paths to travel in life. Whisper’s voice should be heard by many!!!!!!!!

Gripping

This book grabs you from the beginning and does not let go. It is a story that tells tales of crime, drugs and prison, but is much more than that. It also is a psychological study on how a young boy thinks and how those thought patters and decisions that stem from them evolve and shape ones later years. It is also a story of loyalty. D. Waters values friendship, family and being a “stand up guy.” This is a refreshing, out of the norm piece of work. Read it! You’ll be glad you did!

You’ll want to read this over and over again! Great read

As soon as I opened the book, I couldn’t put it down. He writes the book like it’s you and him talking and he’s telling you his life story. It’s amazing to read a book and feel that way. He gives insight to how it was like many years ago and it has me looking around and seeing how much has changed over the years. He has an incredible story and it’s been a great read. It’s a book that I’ll read again a few times.

A Great Read

This was definitely a “read in one sitting book”. I couldn’t put it down. If you are familiar with the Ventura/Oxnard area, this is a great look back in time at how the area was impacted by culture and trends. Later, the life of D Waters just enfolds with one decision after another taking him down his life path. It is a fun read – I highly recommend!

  1. I was pleasantly surprised. I expected, a long drawn out drug-a-log, what I got was an honest look at a little boys longing for his life to begin. The fact that one small decision, can set us on a course of complete and utter destruction.
    D. Waters pulled me through the innocence of life on the beach, music, and friendship, to the horrors of addiction and institutions, and back around to ” my Baby Turtle Egg” which by the way, brought tears to my eyes.

May you always have that perfect cup of coffee.

  2. I finished reading the book about a week ago and I’m still bewildered and emboldened by Dales life. Almost at a loss of words because of how much life lived and written about in one chapter, but almost is not enough because Dale didn’t almost sleep he slept . Anyone and everybody should peek through the keyhole in Dales peacock to get a glimpse of what it means to face life. Pun intended;)
Thank you, Dale for the awesome read.

  3. Really good read. True down to earth story that’s real. Met the author, what a crack up. God bless.

  4. e ticket ride to the ” easy ” life, and consequences. Strap yourself in. The inertia is intense. Absent of moralizing, yet not without redemption.
